MEDICAL
CONDITIONS- If you have a medical condition that
may impact your health during the run, you should check with your
doctor before running the race.
MEDICAL
ASSISTANCE- Boone Clinic
and Fire Department personnel will be on-site for medical assistance
FIRST
AID AND WATER STATIONS- First aid and water stations
will be located around the course.
HEAT
STRESS- Request medical assistance and stop immediately
if during the run you have any of the following heat related danger
symptoms/illnesses- heat rash, cramps, exhaustion, or stroke. The
following link is a PowerPoint
Presentation on recognizing the symptoms of heat stress.
HYDRATION-
Drink fluids before, during and after the race. (water and thirst
quenching drinks, such as Gatorade, are best- stay away from sodas.)
THUNDER
STORMS- If thunder storms/lightning are in the area,
find shelter in the nearest large permanent building or metal vehicle.
Unsafe places are near metal or water, under trees, on hills, near
electrical/electronics equipment. Good rule of thumb- “If
you can see it, flee it; If you can hear it, clear it."
HEADPHONES-
Headphones should not be worn during run, as they can restrict hearing
warnings from officials or thunderstorms.
MUD
PITS- Do not dive head first into the mud pits-
mud pits are for crawling only. If you are concerned about getting
something in your eyes, you might consider wearing goggles when
in the mud pits.
CHILDREN-
Children 12 and under must not be left unattended.
FELLOW
TEAM MATES/RUNNERS- This is a fun run so runners
should help their teammates and other runners if they need help.
