At the Armed Services YMCA of Hampton Roads, It is our mission to "make military life easier" for the local junior enlist military community.

We are a 501-c-3 non-profit organization that provides support for military personnel and their families. Unlike a traditional Y, we do not maintain a recreation facility or charge membership fees. Our outreach is targeted in two main areas: on-going programming and special events. Community Centers in military housing areas provide NO-COST activities that help stay-at-home spouses and their pre-school children make connections and build personal support systems within their communities. The Parent & Me program supports activities for adults that range from group fitness classes, crafts, and educational classes. Activities for pre-schoolers are focused on building social skills & kindergarten readiness.

Fleet readiness programs are targeted toward building total family resiliency. Other family readiness programs include Operation Holiday Joy, Operation Ride Home, and Operation Hero, our free after school mentoring program for at-risk elementary school children. Our low cost child development program surrounds children with a positive environment during off school hours and provides individual academic tutoring for those who need it. We also provide a subsidized summer camp experience for military and a competitive rate for civilians, allowing children to enjoy a fun, safe, and educational break from school.

For over 150 years, the Armed Services YMCA’s programming has adapted to the ever changing needs of our Armed Services by providing support and services where the need is greatest: to junior Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen, Coast Guardsmen and their families.
The ASYMCA continues to enrich the quality of life and resiliency of our service members and their families by promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
